Climate change, loss of biodiversity, species extinction, over-acidified oceans - the natural foundations of life on our planet are under considerable threat. This threatens humans, for example, in the form of communicable diseases and increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather events such as heat waves, droughts and floods, which cost lives and destroy livelihoods.
We would like to talk to Prof. Dr. Mojib Latif, meteorologist, climate researcher and head of the research unit Maritime Meteorology at the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel about how climate change, the loss of biodiversity and the decline of habitats are connected, when the ecological stress limits of the earth are reached and how the protection of climate, oceans and the animal and plant world helps our health. The event will be moderated by Salwa Houmsi.
The event will be livestreamed via the Mercator Event App and simultaneously interpreted into English.
