MERCATOR GLOBE FORUM

The Mercator Globe Forum is more than just an event – it is a vibrant gathering of minds, perspectives, and ideas. Held at the foundation’s home in Essen, it brings together the people who shape our work and our vision: changemakers, project partners, alumni, fellows, current and former colleagues, thought leaders, and experts from across disciplines.

Together, we take on the big questions of our time – and imagine bold, collaborative answers. The Forum is a space to share knowledge, build trust, spark new partnerships, and co-create solutions for a more just, resilient, and sustainable future.

Where the idea came from

We support so many brilliant, inspiring, and dedicated individuals – yet we realized that a traditional alumni approach focused solely on “reconnection” no longer meets the moment. In times of global uncertainty and profound transformation, we needed more:

A space that reflects the depth, diversity, and potential of our community.
A platform for exchange, collaboration, and shared action.

That’s how the Mercator Globe Forum was born.

What to expect

  • Inspiring Impulses
Hear from leading voices who are bridging divides, fostering global understanding, and driving transformation where it’s most needed.
  • Engaging Discussions
Explore the most pressing issues of our time – from climate change and digital policy to anti-discrimination, trust in institutions, and open knowledge – in conversation with experts from our community.
  • Interactive Sessions
Participate in formats that invite hands-on exploration, creative thinking, and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Meaningful Networking
The Forum offers space for genuine connection – professionally and personally – across disciplines, backgrounds, and generations.

The first Mercator Globe Forum, held from March 12 to 14, 2025, marked the beginning of a new chapter in our community work. In a world shaped by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), we explored what it takes to remain agile, connected, and forward-looking. The event highlighted the power of networks in navigating an increasingly multipolar world. We thank everyone who made this first edition so special.
