Outdoor exhibition and a social gathering in best summer weather - at our alumni meeting in Berlin a personal reunion was possible after a long time.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, virtually no face-to-face events with and for alumni of Stiftung Mercator have taken place since spring 2020. With slowly rising vaccination quotas and the introduction of the 3G rule, these were made possible again with appropriate precautions.
Around 20 alumni therefore joined us for the alumni meeting initiated in Berlin and got talking. Many knew each other from joint foundation programs and previous meetings, others took the opportunity to make new contacts in the Mercator network.
Our meeting point for the program was the Anhalter Bahnhof, which is the starting point for a museum project that has "exile" as its main theme. Interesting insights into the history of the location, the plans for the future museum project onsite and especially the participatory museum concept were given by Sarah Brendin, research assistant in the team of the Exile Museum Foundation. The exhibition "ZUFLUCHT" is currently on view there until October 31.
Following the program we gathered for a joint relaxed dinner in the beer garden of Tomasa Villa Kreuzberg. What a nice opportunity to reflect and reconnect!
