Igor Mitchnik is committed to protecting human rights in Belarus and Ukraine. When war broke out, the Mercator alumnus fled Kyiv. He is currently coordinating humanitarian aid in the crisis region from Slovakia.

The attack by Russian forces in Ukraine also caught the project manager of the NGO Libereco - Partnership for Human Rights off guard - even though the tense situation had been known for years. We talked to him about what support is necessary and possible in the current situation and what role exchange, dialogue and an active civil society play in this situation.
