The alumni network is your option to stay involved and connected with the Mercator Community. We regularly present opportunities for you to network within the community, take part in trainings and workshops and realise collective projects.

Mercator Alumni Language Learning Grant

Stiftung Mercator’s international work particularly supports the exchange of people and ideas with China, Turkey and Europe. The Mercator Alumni Language Learning Grant enhances this endeavour by supporting our alumni to develop their language and intercultural skills in Chinese, Turkish or German.

The application period ends on April 30, 2023. You can find more information here.

Mercator Alumni Fund

The Stiftung Mercator Alumni Fund helps you organise events, specialist seminars and workshops with and for alumni in the network – and turn your project ideas into reality. The fund promotes professional exchanges on foundation-related topics and cross-programme networking for alumni.

The Call for Applications has ended on July 15, 2022. Thank you for your project  and event proposals! The next Call will be published in early summer 2023.

Mercator Winter Forum

The Mercator Winter Forum brings members of the network together and invites them to immerse themselves in special subjects in a variety of formats. This networking event succeeds because of the topics and contributions from alumni and partners. This video gives you an idea of our most recent Mercator Winter Forum, held in Essen in 2020.

The next Mercator Winter Forum will likely take place at the beginning of 2024. We welcome your ideas for its design – and look forward to seeing you again!

Whether international understanding, science, education, culture or politics: Many qualified women in our network tell us about considerable challenges they face when ascending to management levels or in leadership positions in their institutions. The program "Mercatora" offers Mercator alumnae the opportunity to exchange ideas and advise one another in a structured manner during a year-long seminar program. Alumnae receive an intensive career training off-the-job and learn strategies for professional and personal development in small groups and a safe and trusting environment among female peers. As part of the program, they can exchange ideas and experiences with other alumnae and experienced female experts from the Stiftung Mercator network. In addition, all participating alumnae ("Mercatoras") from recent program years organize joint activities and network meetings outside of the seminar series.

The next Call for Applications to take part in the upcoming program year will be published here in 2023.
